G scale model trains run a No. 1 track gauge which is 45mm between rails. The G scale is sometimes called the garden railroad. This gauge is very popular with people who have large garden in which to run the train through. The G comes from the German word groβ meaning “big”.

The G scale trains are made for outdoor use therefore being very durable and easy to maintain. The G scale track is usually made of brass and usually requires only wiping clean with a cloth to keep the locomotive running smoothly. These trains usually hold up to the weather rather well. You can find all kind of bridges and tunnel portals for the train or you can build them yourself.
